Mariana is a story that confronts the mistreatment of immigrants and the sexual abuse of women in the workplace.

The story is brought to life by a standout cast, including Nacho Guerreros (La que se avecina), Victoria Santos (Vis a vis, Money Heist), and Jasmine Serra, who bring a moving and singular performance to their characters.

Selections

"Mariana" has been supported by the Government of Andorra and has been selected internationally: by Amnesty International, by the International Women Festival in New York, by The Filmy Monks in India, in Portugal, and three times in Spain — and was shortlisted for the 2023 Goya Awards.

Social, Transformative Cinema

Mariana has been screened in Andorra, Spain and Catalonia with the aim of shedding light on the abuse of power and workplace violence issues too often silenced in professional environments.

Following the screening of Mariana, experts in law, psychology, journalism, and feminist activism took part in a panel discussion on workplace abuse and gender-based violence. The project has already been successfully implemented in Andorra alongside the Department of Labor and Education as a training and prevention tool.

We want to take this message further.

About Mariana

About the director

Maria Caminal is a director and screenwriter based in Andorra, drawn to stories that put women at the center.

Trained at a film school in Barcelona, she has spent her career writing, directing and producing film and advertising work, recognized by festivals including Amnesty International, the New York International Women's Festival, Premios Oriana and her latest short film, Mariana, was shortlisted for the Goya Awards.

She is currently developing her first feature, Women of Ice, supported by residencies at Faberllull Olot and the International Residency
in Liechtenstein.
