About me
She is currently developing her first feature, Las mujeres de hielo (Women of Ice), with support from residencies at Faberllull Olot and the International Residency in Liechtenstein, Balzers. She has also served as a jury member, evaluating film projects for both private and public institutions.
Maria Caminal gives depth to characters who are often left in the background with a particular focus on women. That sensibility runs through every decision she makes as a director, from casting through to how a scene is staged.
Based in Andorra, Maria trained at a film school in Barcelona, and has spent the years since directing, writing and producing across film and advertising. Her work has been selected and recognized by festivals including Amnesty International, the New York International Women's Festival, The Film Monks, Octubre Corto and Premios Oriana.

Maria is deceived and is trapped in a luxurious mansion built for the most powerful men in the world, where learn the strict rules, cunning and sisterhood with other trapped women will be key to survive.

Social, Transformative Cinema
Mariana has been screened in Andorra, Spain and Catalonia with the aim of shedding light on the abuse of power and workplace violence issues too often silenced in professional environments.
Following the screening of Mariana, experts in law, psychology, journalism, and feminist activism took part in a panel discussion on workplace abuse and gender-based violence. The project has already been successfully implemented in Andorra alongside the Department of Labor and Education as a training and prevention tool.
